Geomatics refers to the methods and technologies used to collect, distribute, store, analyze, process, and present geographic data. Geomatics encompasses the fields of geodesy, geographic information systems (GIS), global positioning systems (GPS), hydrography, mapping, photogrammetry, remote sensing, and surveying.
The world is undergoing it's sixth mass extinction and, sadly, human activities are responsible. Humans are responsible for climate change and the consquent environmental disasters that follows. But it is not too late to save our earth from the destruction it shall face, and Gemotics can help us to effectively manage the environment.
GIS based software applications have been used widely for environment management and analysis studies. It allows better viewing and understanding physical features and the relationships that influence in a given critical environmental condition. Factors, such as steepness of slopes, aspects, and vegetation, can be viewed and overlaid to determine various environmental parameters and impact analysis. But that's not all.
